Every five years BITMO will check the safety of the electric installation in your home – the wiring, earthing, smoke detectors and fusebox. We will not check your electrical appliances. We will send you a letter with an appointment. Please be home for our appointed contractor. Leeds Building Services. If you are not at home they will leave you a card. Please call the number on the card to agree a new date and time. The electrical checks will take 3-4 hours. Please make sure that there is a responsible adult at home throughout and please keep children and animals away from our contractors while they work.
Smoke detectors
It is essential that you have working smoke detectors on each floor of your home.
We will test them during your annual home visit, annual gas safety check and during the 5-year electric check. Please test your smoke detectors regularly and tell BITMO immediately if they are not working. We will come within 24 hours to make sure that they are working.
