BITMO Community Development staff are beginning a programme of knocking on doors to talk to you. We are starting in the Rosedales and West Granges.

BITMO wants to talk to you about:
Community activities across Belle Isle
Do you know about the activities in BITMO’s GATE, and the other Belle Isle community centres – Manorfield Hall, The Welcome Centre, Cranmore & Rayland and the Trinity Network – as well as Belle Isle Senior Action and the activities in Belle Isle Youth Hub?
If you have got school age children, do you know about the local Healthy Holidays schemes and the free food and activities in BITMO’s GATE in school holidays?
If you have got children in Year 4 or 5 now, do you know about our free Maths & English tutoring after school on Tuesdays? If your child is in Year 2 or 3 now, they may be able to join us for free tutoring from September.
Would you like to join the litter picking group, or start a litter pick near you?
Do you know about the repair café, held once a month at BITMO’s GATE. Could you help run it, have you got skills to fix things or have you got things that need repairing?
Are you coming to the Belle Isle Gala on Saturday 4 July – it’s from 12-3 on Coopers Field and Windmill School, with a quiet hour 11-12 on Coopers Field.
Support with Jobs and Training
Do you need help finding a new job, or a training or education course to help with work? Leeds Employment & Skills run regular sessions at BITMO’s GATE, and BITMO can offer small grants to people from BITMO households to help pay for courses. We can also let you know about the Job Shops at Hunslet and St George’s Community Hubs.
Help with Money or Debts
BITMO may be able to help you – running a benefit check to make sure you are getting what you are entitled to, we can fund white goods like cookers or waching machines, we have limited funds to pay for new school uniform, we can also make sure you know about all the local support like the Manorfield Hall foodbank, the Cranmore & Raylands food pantry and the free meals at BITMO’s GATE, as well as the second hand winter coats and school uniform. We know the cost of living crisis affects many people in Belle Isle, and we want to work with you to try to help.
Your Part in Running Belle Isle
BITMO is run by a Board mainly of Belle Isle tenants. There are lots of volunteering roles in belle Isle – with BITMO and other community centres or Belle Isle Senior Action. We would like to talk to you about how you could play a part.
Linking up with your Neighbours
Or would you rather be involved more locally? Could you help set up a fun day for your street, or help run a litter pick, or work with BITMO to agree a plan for some improvements to a green space or common area near you?
Anything Else in Your Community?
Is there anything else that would build a safer, stronger, greener Belle Isle? Let us know your ideas, and how we can support you. We are not asking to come into your home, or to talk to you about the kinds of things you should report to our housing team – repairs, anti-social behaviour or rents. You can visit the housing counter or ring them on 0113 378 2188.
If we miss you, or you are busy when we knock, we will leave a card.
If it’s better for you, you can:
- drop in to BITMO’s GATE any Tuesday between 1-7pm to talk to us there
- call or text Jo on 07891 271692 or Tracey on 07891 270094
- complete this form and we will give you a ring back-or email you
