Belle Isle Gala

The Belle Isle Gala 2026 will be held on Saturday 4 July from 11-3pm at Windmill Primary School, LS10 3HQ and Coopers Field. There’s a “quiet hour” before the music , speeches and announcements start.

Free attractions already confirmed for this year’s Gala:

• Two children’s funfair rides
• Ian’s mobile farm
• Four giant Breeze inflatables
• Dog show
• Climbing Wall
• Fire engine
• Police car, police van with mini uniforms
• Lofthouse Brass Band
• Steel pan band
• Main stage with PA

There were open Gala planning meetings held in BITMO’s GATE every month attended by BITMO staff and Board members, residents, councillors and local housing associations. There will also be a meeting to feedback on the Gala and plan for 2027 on 18 July.

Hot meals will cost no more than £4.50 and cakes and snacks no more than £1.50. Food confirmed so far:

Spudford & Sons – jacket potatoes

Indian food – chicken or vegetable biriani- at £4.50, vegetable samosas and chicken tandoori drumsticks at £1.

Bennett’s Butchers with a barbeque serving burgers and steak sandwiches

Pizza at 50p a slice. Ice creams and lollies from an ince cream at £2 each.

St John’s Ambulance will be present in case of any accidents. The Lord Mayor, Councillor Stephen Holroyd will attend as will Hunslet RLFC mascot Kingy the Lion, Ronnie the Rhino and to princesses.

The performance area on Coopers Field kicks off with a singer and keyboard player from Opera North who will be leading a singsong, followed by displays from two amazing local groups – DAZL (dance) and Diamond Twirlers (majorettes).

Please come on foot or bus if at all possible. If you are driving, the car park of Springwell Academy will be open 10.45-3pm. It’s the school opposite Coopers Field on Belle Isle Road, next to the floodlit football pitches. Approach coming up from Belle Isle Circus. Please don’t park on Windmill Road or Winrose Garth, or on the central verge.
