Belle Isle is a garden estate. Many of the homes here have large gardens, and lots of hedging. Looking after a garden takes time and effort.
Maintaining your garden and the hedges and fencing around it is your responsibility. There are some parts of the estate where hedges have been removed and fencing installed. We no longer do this. We want to preserve the hedging in the estate, because it is much more attractive than fencing, better for the environment, promotes bio- diversity, and is cheaper to maintain.
Looking after your garden means cutting the grass regularly, removing weeds, keeping it clear of rubbish, removing any dog poo and trimming any hedges that you have. It requires equipment. As a minimum a lawn mower and set of clippers will be needed to cut the grass and hedges.
The appearance of the Belle Isle estate is very important, and we need everyone who lives here to do their bit. Our caretakers and our contractor, Continental cut some of the grass and hedges. We need you to do the rest. BITMO staff carry out regular garden inspections to check that tenants are complying by their tenancy agreement by keeping their gardens in good order. If there is a problem we will talk to you about what you need to do.
BITMO Tool Library
We have a collection of tools you can borrow free of charge to carry out work in your garden. You will need to confirm that you are competent to use the equipment and sign a loan agreement.
