Free hot meals and tutors for Belle Isle primary school children

6 September 2022

BITMO is really proud to be able to offer free tuition to Belle Isle primary school children with a free hot meal at BITMOs GATE every Tuesday during this autumn term.

We held an open evening on Tuesday 13 September where families had a free hot meal from 3.30pm and met the tutors and talked about what support their child needs.

Folowing the open day it was agreed that the tutoring wil focus on children on Years 3 and 4. We can also take children in Year 5 if they need support at that level. The sessions are runing every Tuesday until 13 December, finishing with a Christmas party on 20 December.

Children of primary school age – along with their family – can also get a hot meal from 3.30pm every Tuesday at the GATE. The food is cooked by our food-safety trained volunteers, from a menu that is both healthy and popular with children. You are welcome to come for the meal and not stay for the tuition. Examples of what we serve are wraps filled with freshly roasted chicken, lettuce, sweetcorn and mayo one week and burgers, home made wedges and beans followed by fruit cocktail and ice cream.

The free tuition is provided by fully qualified tutors with school experience, backed up by supervised volunteer tutors and has a focus on English and Maths. Tuition takes place from 4.15 – 6pm. As there is a limit on numbers attending, priority will be given to BITMO tenants.

To find out more and to book your place for tuition, please contact our Community and Tenant Support Team on 0113 378 2190 or email gate@belleisletmo.co.uk

Every Tuesday from 20 September to 13 December hot meal served 3.30 – 4pm. Tutors from 4.15 – 6pm. Hot meal only on 25 October (half term). Christmas party on 20 December.
