Belle Isle Gala

The Belle Isle Gala 2026 will be held on Saturday 4 July from 11-3pm at Windmill Primary School, LS10 3HQ and Coopers Field. There’s a “quiet hour” before the music , speeches and announcements start.

Free attractions already confirmed for this year’s Gala:

• Two children’s funfair rides
• Ian’s mobile farm
• Four giant Breeze inflatables
• Climbing Wall
• Fire engine
• Lofthouse Brass Band
• Main stage with PA

There are Gala planning meetings every month, held on Saturdays at 3pm during the Belle Isle Repair Cafe at BITMO’s GATE. The next meetings are 17 January, 21 February, 21 March, 18 April, 16 May and 20 June. There will also be a meeting to feedback on the Gala and plan for 2027 on 18 July.

Hot meals will cost no more than £4.50 and cakes and snacks no more than £1.50.

St John’s Ambulance will be present in case of any accidents

A brass quintet from Opera North

In Harmony Opera North Choirs, with children from Windmill Primary, Low Road Primary, Clapgate Primary and Sharp Lane Primary

Performances from DAZL (dance), Diamond Twirlers and Supreme Starlets (majorettes) and Royal Marine Cadets.

The Royal Marine Cadets will also be offering camouflage face painting, a Morse code machine, whack-a-seal and throwing ropes.

The Lord Mayor was unable to attend, but will be represented by the Vice-Chair of Council, Councillor Barry Anderson.

Please come on foot or bus if at all possible. If you are driving, the car park of Springwell Academy will be open 12-3pm. It’s the school opposite Coopers Field on Belle Isle Road, next to the floodlit football pitches. Please don’t park on Windmill Road or Winrose Garth, or on the central verge.
