Welcome to Belle Isle Tenant Management Organisation (BITMO).
BITMO was established in 2004 and manages 1,985 properties on the Belle Ilse Estate on behalf of Leeds City Council.
BITMO is different to many other housing providers because its Board of Management is controlled by Belle Isle tenants.
Every five years BITMO tenants are invited to vote on whether the organisation should continue to manage the Belle Isle properties. In September 2009 BITMO a ballot was held and 91% of those who voted said YES to BITMO continuing as tenant management management organisation for Belle Isle. In the same ballot 89% of those who voted also said BITMO have doen a good job of managing the estate. The next ballot is scheduled for the Autumn of 2014.
Since its started BITMO have had a number of notable achievments including;
- Maintaining a tenant led Board of Management;
- Running a locally accessible repairs service;
- Gaining the decent homes standard for 95% of properties in the area (figures from December 2009)
- Improving rent collection;
- Tackling anti social behaviour;
- Supporting community development projects in Belle Isle.
