If you find that the local BITMO office has been forced to close a message will be posted on the office door and a special message will play when you call the office by telephone.
If the office is closed by severe weather you will still be able to report emergencies.
If the office is closed - Emergency Repairs and Problems with Heating
1. If you have an emergency repair or problem with your heating during office hours (9am-5pm) please call;
- Carillion Energy our Gas Contractors on 0800 085 5505 (and choose Option 4) for heating
- Repairs standby service on 0113 376 0499 for other emergency repairs
2. If you have an emergency repair or problem with your heating after 5pm (and before 9am) please call;

If the office is closed - Sheltered Housing
We will continue to visit our sheltered scheme residents. However if you or a member of your family have an emergency within the sheltered scheme please use the emergency Care Ring service provided.
The Care Ring emergency alarm call service involves a pendant-style monitor connected to a response centre. When you activate the alarm, this alerts the response centre where trained staff will be on hand to help and reassure you.

Social care emergency duty team
For social care emergencies out of office hours please contact the Social Care Emergency duty team on 0113 240 9536. They help carers, older people, children and young people, people with mental health problems and people with learning or physical disabilities, should a social work crisis occur outside office hours. Please only contact this service in a genuine emergency and if your needs cannot wait until normal office hours.
Emergency repairs for non- council buildings and highways
Emergency repairs can be reported for non-council buildings, dangerous structures and dangerous highways (including street lights or signs) outside of normal hours on 0113 376 0499, or by fax on 0113 245 7890. Please note this number is for emergency situations only.
Noise nuisance outside office hours
If you are disturbed by noise nuisance in the evening, at night or at weekends and you aren't able to resolve the problem informally by talking to the people responsible, you can report the noise to the Council on 0113 242 5841. They aim to respond to complaints within an hour. They assess the level of noise nuisance and will take appropriate action to reduce it.
